Class 3
2025-26
Welcome to Class 3
Pop Art Workshop
We had a fantastic afternoon, learning all about the work of Andy Warhol and experimenting with some of his techniques. We have created the most phenomenal display!
TTRS day! We had great fun learning our times tables, look out on the school event page for more photos!
Exploring circuits in our Electricity topic
We had great fun exploring lots of different activities during our Ancient Greek workshop. We began the day with a battle between the Spartans and the Athenians, the Spartans had spears whilst the Athenians had a strong defence with shields. The Spartans eventually won, despite the clever formation used by the Athenians, when one of the Generals snuck around behind the Athenians so they were surrounded!
We created a democracy and tried to run our own city, we used the Greek alphabet to write on papyrus with ink and even learn a new board game. You might like to try it at home!
Welcome back to our beautiful new learning space! We are really excited to see Class 3 blossom this term.....

We had the most amazing day visiting the Roman Baths in Bath! We spent the morning trying on togas, making mosaics and exploring real Roman artefacts before visiting the now underground tunnels of the Roman walkways where we honed our inner archeologist- digging up artefacts in the gravel, searching for clues and reconstructing mosaics, arches and columns. In the afternoon we explored the museum and baths.
Diatom Dave visit!
We had great fun learning all about physical and chemical changes with Diatom Dave this morning. We looked at how we could remove the colour from skittles, this was a physical change until the colours were all mixed together and it became a chemical change. We added water to snow powder, it expanded and became fluffy- another physical change. We added citric acid to water and shook it until the crystals were all dissolved. Then we put a balloon with baking soda in on the top of the bottle, when the baking soda was tipped in it produced carbon dioxide and filled the balloon with gas. This was a chemical change. We tipped acetone over a polysterene cup, this created holes in the cup due to depolymerisation! This is where the molecules are broken down. This was a chemical change too.

Our KIRFs to learn this term
We have been creating factfiles about orangutans in English, linked with our topic work on The Rainforests. We identified the features we would need and worked really hard on our presentation to create our final piece of written work.
As part of our science work on plants we did some very careful, observation drawings of plants then labelled the parts and explained its function.
We really enjoyed reading the book 'The Lost Words' and experimented with similes, metaphors, powerful verbs, fronted adverbials and acrostic poems before making a display of our favourite of our own poems.
Having investigated the homes in the Amazon rainforest in our geography work, we built our own during Forest School.
