Everyone to thrive

Governing Board

Governing boards have a vital role to play in making sure every child gets the best possible education. This is reflected in the law which states that the purpose of school governing boards is to ‘conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement at the school’ and in our own Strategic Plan which sets out our aim to ensure every child thrives.

Temple Guiting C of E School's governing board provides non-executive leadership for our school.  It operates at a strategic level, leaving the headteacher responsible and accountable to it for the educational performance, the internal organisation and operational day-to-day running of the school.

We have a strong focus on three core strategic functions, which reflect regulations and the criteria Ofsted inspectors use to judge the effectiveness of governance in schools.

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

Underpinning all our work is our responsibility for safeguarding children.

We made the Gloucestershire live Newspaper - a story about the opening ceremony - do take a look.
