We have worked in small groups to create a spider diagram of facts about Tim Peake. Have a go at making your own spider diagram about Tim Peake. I have attached a PowerPoint giving you instructions on making a spider diagram. It also has information on Tim Peake but you could also research him yourself if you want to.

Maths

Today (Friday) the Year 2 have been writing multiplication sentences using the x symbol. I have attached a PowerPoint to support todays learning and a work sheet to complete.

Year 1 have been practicing their 5 times tables. Please continue to use Purple Mash to practise and test yourself in a fun way. I've also attached a PowerPoint to support your learning.

English

We are thinking about different types of writing in English. Our focus is knowing the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Please take a look at the attached PowerPoint which relates to the story 'Goodnight Spaceman' Please complete activities as you progress through the PowerPoint.

Maths

Please continue to practise your times tables. I have launched '2Simple table toons' on Purple Mash to practice and test yourself on 2, 5 and 10's. Year two please also do the 3's. I have attached a 2 x table problem solving sheet as well.

Purple Mash- Number Bonds

I was asked at parents' evening about where to find practise for number bonds. So I have launched 'Bond bubbles' for anyone who wants to learn number bonds whilst playing games. Enjoy.

Computing

Today in computing we will be looking at the artist William Morris and his famous patterns. I have attached a PowerPoint with information about William Morris as well as Lesson 4 of Purple mash. The children have been using the 2Paint A Picture app and today will use the Pattern and Slice icons to create art work similar to William Morris's artwork. The children should know how to log in, find and use 2Paint A Picture and save their work. Please save the work using the file name Morris. Thank you.

Maths

On Tuesday Y2 finished off their worksheet from Monday and then practised making arrays with the Y1. I have attached the PowerPoint on array. Please run though the PowerPoint and try making your own arrays at home.

English

On Tuesday we read the story 'Goodnight Spaceman' and sequenced the events of the story. We drew a picture of the event and wrote a sentence about in the box underneath  it.

Year 2 also wrote a sentence or two explaining what the story was about.

Here as a link to the story and I have attached a sequencing sheet for year 1 and year 2.

History - Amelia Earhart. Please do a little bit of research and sequence the events in young Amelia's life. Please also draw a picture of the event. Year 2 please write a sentence about Amelia's googles!

Maths

Both year groups have been working on 2, 5, 10. Y2 have also studied the 3 times tables. We have been investigating arrays and doubling over the last few lessons.  I have attached some worksheets to try at home.

English

On Thursday we went outside at school and looked up! We thought about the different things we could see, hear and feel. We came up with a bank of descriptive words. For example. The sky had fluffy, white clouds.

On Friday we used the descriptive words we discussed to start to write a short story about when we 'looked up'. We used a story mountain as a structure. We only covered the opening and the build-up today. Today we will write the dilemma ( problem) resolution ( answer) and the closing. I have attached the example piece of writing to look at and colour coded it to the story mountain colours to help see the different parts of a story.

I will be loading work on the class 2 page for the next few days. This is to allow any children, who are well enough, the opportunity to continue to work while they self isolating.

Mrs Rainbow

What will my child learn about in Autumn Term 2?

Hello everyone, here is this week's story for you to look at with a grown up. This week we are thinking about questions, can you think of any questions which you would like to ask the knight or the dragon? Perhaps you could write them down and bring them in tomorrow.

See attached sheet, Knights and Dragons Unite, for some useful words to help.

Here is a fun Maths sheet for you to try, can you count the shapes, how many can you find?

A few notes for the start of term:

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are really looking forward to teaching your child this year. We hope that your child is looking forward to starting, or continuing, their learning journey with us.

At this stage of your child's development we strive to encourage independence. At morning drop off, please encourage your child to walk independently with their belongings into the line. Your child will be greeted by Mrs Kelleher, Miss Chester or Mrs Hines.

In addition to recording 10 minutes of reading each day, please use your child's reading record as a form of home-school communication, for example to let us know about alternative pick-up arrangements. Reading records will be checked daily and therefore should be in book bags every day.

We will settle back to school before homework begins.

Very importantly, please ensure that your child's uniform is clearly labelled. We will make every effort to reunite your child with their clothing should they lose an item.

Best wishes

Miss Chester, Mrs Kelleher and Mrs Hines
